What’s Triboelectric Noise? Imagine yourself at your doctor’s office. You’re jogging on a tread mill while performing a Heart Stress Test. With every stride you take, the Patient Lead Wires and Trunk Cable attached to you oscillate and shake with your step. This movement causes the cables internal components rub against each other, creating a static build up that discharges over and over again during your test.
This “Triboelectric Noise” corrupts your actual ECG signal, making your Doctors Diagnosis more difficult if not impossible to achieve. Fortunately, Systems Wire and Cable has a long history of being one of a few Custom Cable Manufactures with the ability to design and produce Medical Patient Lead Wires and Cables that meet ANSI/AAMI EC53:2013 5.3.2 Cable and Lead Wire Noise Requirements. This Standard has a requirement for the Tested Sample to generate less than a 50 uV of triboelectric noise between signal wires when the sample is mechanically manipulated. Of course, Systems Wire and Cable can also design and manufacture cables for non-medical applications using the same techniques, even if AAMI standards don’t apply to your product.
Systems Wire and Cable is proud of its 15-year history in the development and manufacturing of Precision Low Noise Cables. Our commitment to excellence has fueled our continued investment in the technology and equipment to keep our company relevant and on the forefront of this field.
